Dr. Eileen Fielding, Sharon Audubon Center Director, will provide a brief natural history of woodpeckers, featuring our colorful local species, their particular specialties, amazing anatomy, and their importance to the forest.
Then artist Leslie Watkins will give an overview of painting birds with watercolors. This session will focus on the familiar Downy Woodpecker with notes on artistic bird anatomy and useful art materials. Watkins will provide painting instruction while demonstrating, followed by Q&A and critiques for those who wish to share their paintings.
Suitable for beginners to advanced students. A materials list, reference and other pertinent information will be emailed to registrants.
A collaboration of Sharon Audubon, Bushnell-Sage Library, Oliver Wolcott Library and the Scoville Memorial Library
