Community Caretaking: Decolonizing Indigenous Anti-Violence Work (virtual)

Historic New England and Boston University Initiative on Cities are proud to partner with UMass Boston Department of Urban Planning and Community Development to present their 7th Annual Spring Planning Lecture. This year's speaker is Dr. Laura Harjo, who is a Myskoke scholar and an Associate Professor of Native American Studies at the University of Oklahoma.

In this virtual lecture, Professor Harjo discusses the rich history of sustainable community-building and place-making among Native American communities in North America, highlighting what planners can learn from these experiences.

This event is co-hosted with the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program at MIT, Mel King lnstitute of the Massachusetts Association of the Community Development Corporations, the APA Massachusetts Chapter, and the BPDA Diversity, lnclusion and Equity Office.
