CaShawn Thompson is proud native of Washington, D.C. and the brilliant mind behind Black Girls Are Magic and the hashtag #BlackGirlMagic. She believes in the phenomenal power and skill of Black women and girls. CaShawn is a passionate advocate of the work, will and wonder of Black women and you can find her championing their many causes in her everyday life and online. She lives right outside of her hometown of Washington, D.C. in Mount Rainier, MD with her husband, two cats, and various children and grandchildren visiting daily.
Elena Favilli is a New York Times best-selling author, journalist, and breaker of glass ceilings. She is the co-founder of Rebel Girls and serves on the board leading all impact initiatives. Elena has written for the Guardian, Vogue, ELLE, COLORS magazine, McSweeney's, RAI, Il Post, and La Repubblica, in addition to authoring four books within the Rebel Girls series.
Lilly Workneh is an award-winning storyteller, speaker and strategist who is passionate about creating meaningful and mission-driven media content. She spent nearly a decade as a journalist amplifying underrepresented voices and stories in key leadership roles as the first-ever editor-in-chief of Black millennial news platform Blavity News, editor-in-chief of entertainment site Shadow & Act, and senior editor of HuffPost’s Black Voices.
Lilly, who is a 2018 Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree, currently serves as the Head of Digital Content at kids media and empowerment company Rebel Girls and is the editor of the popular kid’s book 100 Real-Life Tales of Black Girl Magic. She is also an accomplished content consultant, helping change-making businesses and brands bloom through strategic storytelling.
Lilly has spoken to audiences all around the country about a myriad of topics. She is a proud Ethiopian-American who wholeheartedly believes mindfulness and powerful stories can shift perspectives, expand imagination, and deepen understanding, helping to build a better future for all of us.
Giulia Flamini is a tall, Italian creative, with more than 15 years of experience in the visual communication industry. She is an expert in art direction, book design, advertising campaigns, magazine layout, illustration and print processes. She built her career between Italy and London where she spent the last 7 years before eventually moving to the US to join Rebel Girls. She loves chatting about tech, the future of ethics, insects and motorbikes.
