Amelia Earhart is perhaps known less for her life than her tragic and unsolved disappearance. However, in many ways, her life was more remarkable than her death. Before Earhart was a pilot, she was a lonely teenager in Chicago, a nurse treating wounded soldiers and flu pandemic victims in Toronto, and a social worker at a settlement house in Boston’s South End. Join Historic New England’s Program Manager Claire Sadar for a conversation with feminist historian Dr. Susan Ware about Earhart’s life before her launch to fame.
