Yankees from the Middle East: The Armenians of New England (virtual)

  • Bushnell-Sage Library 48 Main Street Sheffield, MA, 01257 United States (map)

Join us for this virtual lecture on Armenian communities of New England. Drawing upon documents, photographs, and artifacts in the collection of the Armenian Museum of America, in Watertown, Mass., curator Gary Lind-Sinanian discusses the origins, locations, struggles, changes, contributions, and ongoing role in New England society of Armenian-Americans over the last two centuries. Once known in the nineteenth century as the "Yankees of the Middle East," Armenians used those same survival skills to establish themselves in New England.

Presented in partnership with the Armenian Museum of America.
