Lost Ski Areas of the Berkshires

  • Dewey Memorial Hall Sheffield, MA, 01257 United States (map)

On Sunday, March 13 from 2-3 pm we welcome Jeremy Davis, founder of the New England Lost Ski Areas project, to give a presentation on the “Lost Ski Areas of the Berkshires.”

Between the 1930’s-70’s there were 44 ski areas developed in the Berkshires. Today there are only seven. Jeremy’s talk at Dewey Hall, will cover the rise and decline of these ski areas, that range from resorts that are no more, like Jug End, to community ski centers that receded back into the forest.

The photographs, trail maps, and stories of those who skied at the areas paint a vibrant picture of the sport in this region during the 20th century. After the talk, Jeremy will be signing and selling his book, “Lost Ski Areas of the Berkshires.”

The program is free and open to the public.

Masks and proof of vaccination required.
